I find it deer in the south, especially in the eastern part of these three states: VA/NC/SC give a real good fight when you're huntin them. These deer are born and live in the swamps and must adapt to survival tactics that help them in these locations. Now, I've never been to Illinois or Ohio or even to Michigan to hunt deer but I feel that deer from the southern swamps put up a better and more challenging fight. Any thought to this?

never leave the swamps, don't travel in open fields, bed in the thickest areas that no one can travel in... they just seem more wily then deer from the north

I feel that way about the deer in Cali. Hard to find. Harder to hunt.

Yes they are. I hunted 5 years in NC 2 in VA and 3 in NJ, NY, and PA. I will tell you the hardest hunting has been in NC and VA.
