I think I have identified most of the SD guys, but I am sure there are still a few in hiding. Where are you guys from or where have you hunted in SD?
Not exactly. They arent really "college friendly priced". Then there is the drama with them being a Kevin Strother design, not that it bothers me any. I have some buddies who have shot with the Xpedition guys and said they have a tendency to try to shove the bow down your throat. That kind of pitch wouldnt really sell me one.
I'm still hangin around the forum Boof! Been real busy this summer again so I don't spend much time on the computer this time of year. Finally got my 3 trailcams out and did some scouting yesterday. I will be hunting the Fort Meade area still for my archery buck. I didn't draw my elk tag, I have 9 years in! If I draw an antelope tag we have some private land to hunt up north. What part of the state will you be hunting?
I have never hunted South Dakota but was planning to hopefully get out and hunt any possible era around the Brookings area (attending SDSU). Anyone know of an area around there open to the public? Also since I am a resident of Minnesota is there a class of some sort that I have to complete to be able to purchase a tag over the counter? Thanks for any help.
I also attend SDSU. When I get on a computer ill PM you some advice about some locations. Plenty of public in the area. Sent from iPhone
Elk tags are getting rough. A lot of guys rolling over into the 10 year point drawing is making it a once in a lifetime tag. I should be seeing a lot of the state this year. West river rifle will be in Gregory county, around Gregory and Burke. I don't plan on doing east river rifle this year since most of the private land I hunt over here is in Hutchinson county (only 50 tags given out this year due to EHD). East river archery I will be hunting Hutchinson and Yankton county for sure, maybe take a trip over to Charles Mix around Platte. West river archery hasn't been hashed out yet. My buddy is really pushing for the Bell Fourche area, and I would love to go, but it might not be in the budget this year. I also have a preference point for antelope, we are thinking Fall River county for that. I've got four points for muzzleloader and one for refuge, so we will see if I put in for any of those. I will definitely be buying a point for Black Hills deer this year, not sure why I waited so long to start. It should be a busy fall! I might even find time to squeeze in school!
West River results came out today. Any luck for you guys? I got turned down for Gregory Early Season Any Deer. Since I was applying as a group and the other guys didnt want to do second choice I didnt draw any other tag. I see there is still quite a few Any Whitetail tags left, I will definitely be putting my name in the hat for some of those.
I drew my grasslands tag for the 3rd year in a row. The odds are getting worst every year though. Sent from iPhone
Yeah, I heard they were going to drop the tag numbers back in a bunch of areas.... Luckily I'm pretty much just archery only for deer so I don't have to mess around with the drawings...
I've got some deer in mn targeted, but just put up my sd cams last week. I just secured a property I've had my eyes on. Sent from iPhone
