Actually, in all honesty, I use We because it distinguishes between the teams. I could have said, they shot a terrible FG% as a team...well who was I talking about (both shot terrible if you were wondering)? Using We/They instead of They/They makes for easier conversation. Glad to have amused Jeff on multiple fronts though. :D Who is the better team USC or NC St?
I don't know? Have they played each other? Steve: WE played WFU 2X/yr. in those days. This was my junior year. I remember going 2-4 and hitting a HR in the game. WE got the snot beat out of us, and I caught 9 innings (OK......8....lol).
Here's another thing I don't understand about people and sports.....How can on get emotionally invested in a team that they do not play for? Honestly, unless you play, sports has absolutely no impact on one's life. Why people get so emotionally involved is beyond me. BUT, I am willing to learn why.......maybe someone can enlighten me.
When two of UK's 6'10" guys are trying to trap or help with Downey, it opens up the players they were guarding for rebounds. SC's offensive rebounding numbers had a LOT to do with Downey. Yes he plays on a not so talented team. Yes they expect him to shoot a lot. Yes he takes bad shots. Part of the reason he forces up shots with three guys on him is because his teammates crash the boards. It is part of their offense. The coach tells Downey to just get the ball up on the basket. Sometimes it happens to go in. I still don't think just anyone can do it because they are on a bad team. UK tried just about everything to get the ball out of his hands and he consistently dribbled through and around double and triple teams. Many players would have picked up their dribble, passed the ball, or turned it over. Its not that I'm trying to argue with you, I just think SC deserves more credit for the win than you're giving them. We've seen it a lot on these boards lately. Especially with football. Its not that the winning team played well, its how poorly the losing team played. Many times the opposing team is the reason for that poor play.
