Used that one just the other day. Good enough for a rough comparison I figure. I'd be curious to see what everyone's bows measured at. Mine was 67db at about one foot to the right.

Just downloaded that app. I will test my bow and a few friends tomorrow and post my results. I will use the same, 'one foot to the right' as the standard.

So I was not able to use the same exact app, so I am not sure how the comparison will be. I have a Iphone so I downloaded the free one. My bow registered at 83dbs about a foot to the right.

But mine was hitting mid 60's just sitting in a room inside. So I don't know if that is a good comparison.

    My buddies Martin hit 93.

I'm thinking it would have to be from the same phone to even be close. I'll try a few other bows and see what I come up with.

I tried one and it was very inconsistent. It would vary 5-6 dB every shot. I don't have the greatest phone though so that probably didn't help.

I tried it on my motorcycle exhausts and it peaked at 89dB no matter which bike I tried it on.

    good idea!

btw 83 and 93 dB is crazy loud for a bow.

a HMF slip on muffler for a atv is rated at 90 dB and thats what a lot of guys use to race with... im sure your bows aint as loud as a 4 wheeler with a aftermarket pipe on it lol

I tried a free app on my Ipad. My lawnmower with blades turning is 90. My Creed is about 85 db. I somehow do not think this app is accurate. Fun to play with though.

Agree with smokey. I dabble in home theater, where sound level meters are used to equalize speaker output. You can buy a decent one at Radio shack (mounts on a camera tripod) for 30 to 40 bucks. At any rate owing to the differences in phone and computer mic sensitivity, I wouldn't put much stock in your readings. 67 db is pretty darn loud for any bow, your's is likely much quieter than that.

Very cool idea, but can't see it being very consistent.

It may be. Its hard to imagine the thwap from your bow as a consistent sound. In the same respect. Your lawnmower running for a millisecond. Your right though, fun to play with.
