Since I got home from work today... My throat is getting killer sore... Just on the left side though... It is in that area of the gland just above and beside of the adams apple....

Any remedies for a sore throat guys?

How much salt? Does this really work or are you trying to torture me? :o

Trust me, you'd know it if I were torturing you. ;)

The salt water gargle isn't a miracle cure but it usually helps. Just take a cup of warm water and pour some salt into it. (about a teaspoon) Mix it, gargle with it. Don't swallow it.

It should be salty like sea water. Not super-duper salty.

Man I hate a sore throat. Salt water cuts it down. I also like to get some honey to coat my throat. If the sore throat is due to a cut, cut down on any food that makes the cut sting.

Sometimes a sore throat is caused due to allergies and your sinus passages becoming closed down partially. A decongestant might help open up your sinus and to prevent the mucus drip that sometimes causes the pain.

Buckeye, you do any work involving dust flying around today or anything with cutting grasses? Those two things can really get a throat stinging.

X2 on what Christine said. I usually just do that or put in chloraseptic drops.

Ok Im not sure of the exact portions, but it doesn't matter and it works...

    -shot of Whisky
    -squirt of Lemon Juice
    -Tablespoon of honey

warm to liquidfy the honey, and the warmth soothes your throat also... but it tastes pretty nasty.

Yes along the lines of what Gri22ly is getting at. Something sour lemons for sure but if you can't handle that lemon drops.

In laymans terms: It sounds like a duct at that gland is jammed up.

Something sour that makes your mouth curl and water wll help clear the duct.

PS I'm not a Dr but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night!

You forgot to mention the tequila step.
One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.

Sore throat is one of the first symtoms of H1N1 or swine flu. Be careful with the baby.
