Tonight hurt I really liked Opie and it won't be the same without him. He did lose his wife and father to the life and his but at his choosing. He always had Jax back now Tig owes him and must step up we shall see what happens Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Tonight gave me chills. This season has made major steps to being the best yet. I was absolutely shocked Ope died... I figured he would soon replace Bobby as VP. Jax is about to go on a rampage I'm afraid. Clay dying is too predictable, I am thinking Gemma is gone this season. One of the two has to go it seems the way they are setting it up.
Did anyone else catch what clay said about if he isn't riding in a month he no longer gets a vote? Opie dying is the perfect setup for Clay to swing the vote on splitting the coke muling money with Pope. In the next few episodes clay will end up with Piney's trike that we all saw Opie slap the for sale sticker on. Just in time to try getting a no vote for splitting the money.
One thing Ive learned watching Kurt Sutter shows is that no matter what conclusion you draw, its wrong. He is brilliant at twisting plots in ways nobody thought possible, yet keeping it believable. Having said that, last nights show pissed me off. Opie was one of my favorite characters and I thought for sure him and Jax were going to eventually be at the helm of the club. Last nights show sure made me excited to see how this all plays out. I cannot wait to see how revenge is enacted on Pope and the gaurd at the prison. In regards to Perrineau. If you watched The Shield, I thought the same thing about Forrest Whitaker in that series. How could they make that big teddy bear into someone you hate, but without a doubt I HATED his character. Another thing that Sutter is a mastermind at. He knows how to cast the right person for the villain and Im confident that Perrineau's character will be one to remember.
Me too... Opie was the only guy in the whole club that had a really intimidating, bad a$$ appearance too
Watching the episode last night I had a feeling that Opie was gonna be the one to die because he was already distancing himself from the club and he seemed like the logical one to go.
In the previous episode Opie told the hooker that he couldn't love anything or something to that effect. Him going into the joint seemed like it was going to end well. I think he knew he had nothing left to live for and went in to protect Clay and take a bullet for him so to speak.
I STILL can't believe they killed Opie! Be very interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out
I cannot believe they killed Opie, finally watched it last night. What a scene. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Anyone see the news today the actor Johnny Lewis he was on the show for the first 2 seasons. Pretty screwed up story just shows ya what drugs do to ya!!!
A lot of dramas like SOA that run 11-14 episodes usually use the 3rd and 4th episode as a platform to color the rest of the season. I think that's what will happen for S5. Episode 3 Opie got his skull caved in, episode 4 changes Jax for the remainder of the season and ultimately the series. I remember reading during the summer that Sutter said S5 would be about Jax finally manning up and making his own decisions, and that Jax would be crying a lot less. In the first 3 episodes, I still saw the indecisive, somewhat whiny Jax from the previous 4 seasons. I think burying Opie will finally make Jax own his decisions, and he'll start finding a way to bury Clay along the way. It's pretty clear Jax blames Tig for Opie's death subconsciously and I think he blames Clay too. It's Jax's show, and as much as everyone hated seeing Opie die, it was necessary for Jax's character to evolve into how Sutter wants to mold the second half of the series.
Kurt Sutter's tweet about the episode this coming week: "@sutterink: last week's episode of SOA made you cringe in horror, this week's will break your heart. beautiful send off. jax, forever changed."
I agree entirely. In a series like this with the end looming at some point in the future it was only a matter of time before a main character was killed off. And not someone that people hate - that was too easy. If you look back at The Shield, which Sutter did before SOA, a similar thing happend with Lem and Shane. Not only does it get people talking, but IMO it signifies the beginning of the end.
