These are the biggest I have to hunt so far. I'm not happy about it either. I like to hunt for 150 plus incher and I don't have them this year...SO FAR. The coming month will tell the tale.

While the temptation is real I doubt it until either a temp swing or I get some kind of Easterly wind due to that having a stand on this property which is low intrusion if so....

...would love to keep this place for when I lose 2 of my prime spots in gun season though.

Do you target any does on this property or just bucks? Some solid age bracket bucks there.

There is nearly 3500 acres tied to managing the herd. There are 3 does to every buck shot during the entire bow and gun seasons in most years. There continues to be an over abundance of does but it is getting better. On my property for instance I will shoot a doe if it has buck fawns with it. In (every) circumstance the bucks will stay in the immediate area as there is no chance of inbreeding. Over the past 5 years or so the number of bucks has drastically increased. The fact remains that not every buck will grow to 150 inches in this area.

My pops is going in for back surgery so I've seen first hand how much a bad back can take from you. Been keeping you in my prayers brother, keep us updated and hopefully good news continues.

Nice bucks nonetheless. I'd shoot any of them. But I don't own any land and the place I hunt is a year to year thing. I don't know if or when they will stop giving permission. So my situation is a little different. My biggest buck measured under 100 inches, but still a trophy to me!

The season for most of us is right around the corner. Good luck to all!

Well I was out doing a little fine tuning of my broad heads last night when I heard a loud whack when I released my arrow!! Killed two arrows with one shot! That is $17 down the drain!! Oh well! Bow is fine tuned and ready for the weekend!!

Man, well the temptation is even harder now here....East winds still predicted which is the best wind for the lowest intrusive nature stand on the new property. Still gonna hopefully fight that urge and go to a oak flat stand in the riverbottom property which we lose come gun. Won't be up in the morning, as I don't morning hunt much early...but come mid day to early afternoon I'll be there.

Well fellas, finally got into the stand again yesterday and was a very slow night until about 10 after 7, I had two huge doe show up across the field. They were at 48 yards and well within my comfort zone but just too dark to take the shot at that distance! Was gonna get back out this evening after work but nothing but heavy downpours for the next few days here. Hopefully it'll clear up enough Saturday afternoon to make my way back out. Starting to get really desperate for meat, lol!

So i saw deer heading to and from my stand today but nothing while i was in it. Unfortunately the big 9 point and 10 point did not make an appearance for me. They did however make an adorable for my cousins on the adjacent property. The big 9 is in the freezer and we spent half the day looking for the 10. Gonna go back out in the morning lookin for the 10.

I am both happy and annoyed by this, but it is what it is. I don't really have another shooter on cam so i hope a new guy shows up during the rut

Well I got out this morning and put a few hours in the tree. Saw 13 does and one spike. Heading back out around 2:30 hopefully a good buck shows up. Good luck to everyone who is heading out today!

Well, I'm back from Colorado. Holy cow did we see elk.

I'm excited to get back at things here though. I need to get caught up with resort crap and check my cameras. Hoping to get out once this week, but will for sure next weekend as it sounds like my buddy Nick is going to come up to hunt. Checked my cams on the outlet dam yesterday... nothing. I think the new beaver activity there is going to screw me out of my favorite hunting spot.
