My son is 8 and we tried his mom's diamond infinite edge.
It adjusted down to a very manageable draw weight for him, but for him being on the small size the size of the bow was some what awkward for him.
I ended up getting him the diamond Atomic to get him going because I didn't want him to hurt him self or someone else struggling to hold the bow up and that leave a bad taste in him mouth.
If he was a little stronger and could hold more bow with an outstretched arm I would have went with the infinite edge or the bear apprentice 2.
After him maxes the poundage on this bow (its near 30) We'll sell it and get him one that will go higher or he can take his moms infinite edge and she'll get something different.
I also heard Mission make a good starter as well as the Hoyt ruckus being an option.
Lot of good bows out there , good luck.

Mission bows are very adjustable and will last him a long time. A little more expensive but it should last him to adulthood.

My sons(he's 11) mission craze adjusts from 15-70 pounds and fits him well. Take a look at them for sure.

We're getting my 5 year old a Genesis youth bow. While it won't take him to hunting weight, it'll be a great starter.

My daughter started out with a diamond nuclear ice. It is no longer made but can usually be picked up on eBay fairly reasonable. The diamond atomic replaced the nuclear ice. It shot great out at 20 yds. She done some indoor and 3d with it. Gone to diamond infinite edge this December thanks to Santa. She was shooting at 7 years old with nuclear ice. Diamonds seem to hold up well.

I've got a 5 year old that I'm looking at getting the Atomic for - it's nice and light so it will be easy for her to handle. As soon as she can pull 20lb (which will most likely be a few years out) I'll look at getting her a Hoyt Ruckus or similar....

No, sorry. Look around you can find good prices on used ones but a lefty will be hard.

My son is 10. I got him the Diamond Infinite Edge. It adjusts from 5lbs to 70! Draw length adjustments all the way out to 30 as he grows into it. He is shooting 47lbs right now. He will not need another bow until he decides he wants to buy his own. :) Great bow. He loves it.
