Just don't see that happening. Possible, but there is WAY too much money to be missed out on by both the players and the owners for a season to not happen. Both sides want a season.
Agreed, both sides are spouting BS like a 99% chance their will be no ball. The main thing I look at is this, alot of kids are declaring already, AFTER they get council from a committee telling them where they think they will go, if there will be a season etc... Bradford almost blew his shot (injuries) and had his shoulder got busted a few weeks later pushing suregery back, he could have cost himself millions. A degree is for the ability to make more money, if he can get 50 million or better guaranteed right now, he can afford to go back and finish his last year, or maybe a couple classes that he has left.
The only thing I can think of is he feels something is not fullfilled personally at the college level and this is his last chance. He wants a NC or heisman? Or a really hot chick still attending that he doesn't want to be away from I don't get it. I'd be gone as gone can be. Show me the money!
Obviously he doesn't need money... ...and at that point, him and his family are probably saying - Take happiness over money - very few actually figure this out. Life's great for him right now! He could get injured first play next year, sit out all year, and he'd still get drafted and make a very good income throughout his 20's (again - it appears there is no real "need" for the money at this point). Takes some balls...
He could go back in the spring for the next two years and finish his degree at Stanford....and be rich. It is a no brainer to me.
You go to college to hopefully earn more flow in the future (and to slay college girls.) He is crazy IMO.
I read that this could cost him $40 million plus! If he were my son, I would encourage him to sign a contract and finish his education while he was making big cash. Why not?
if he doesn't take the $40M that stanford education didn't teach him very much... guess my kids won't be goin there!!! :p
Lol. I'm not into the greed. But just look at how much good he could do with that kind of money. Not only for his future family, but countless other selfless possibilities. How about a foundation to fund research for the prevention of head injuries and spinal cord injuries in the sport he loves. Or a cure for any number of childhood illnesses. Not to mention the hunting ground he could wrap up! lol
If the kid wants to stay in school for personal reasons I'd support him. Condition 1 would be take out an insurance policy. Condition 2 would be make sure to stay clear of all trouble that could lead yourself to become less valuable. He is NOT stupid for staying, he just needs to cover himself. Having said that, I'd suggest going out now, take the money and come back later to finish.
I do give him credit for wanting to stay and finish, but personally, I'd jump ship and get into the NFL now, stock is high, he's injury free. The rookie cap isn't in place yet. There will be a season next year, no question. If there is a lock-out, it will be short lived, just as was stated earlier. They simply can't afford to NOT have a season. He can finish his education while he's playing and the NFL will cover costs (that's part of Isaiah's job). He is running a high risk of possibly getting injured in his last year and that could cost him his entire NFL career (I've been witness to this as well). Either way, wishing him the best of luck. That's a lot of pressure and life-changing decisions for a 20-21 year old.
