This is what I would expect Mr. Luck (Andrew's dad) to say to his son. If he's saying it......it ain't working. Looks like he's coming back to Stanford. (Befor eanyone says it....yes...I would tell him to go back AT SOME POINT to finish his degree)
I agree and then I don't agree. His stock will never be any higher at the moment, but if he doesn't want to go to Carolina, and he enjoys school, and he doesn't need the money right now, I don't think it's a horrible idea for him to go back.
My guess is....Carolina would trade the pick for 2 later picks. I'd let him tell me where he wanted to go......and then work a deal with that team (for their picks). Win - Win. If you do a "pros v. cons" for staying.....the cons DWARF the pros.
I mean....no matter which year he comes out...the team with the 1st pick is gonna be coming off a horrible season.
Turn pro. Easy. If someone offered you $20 Million dollars or whatever when you were in your third year of college to come out and run a big time construction company, would you do it? I sure would. However, everyone loves to scrutinize those athletes that leave school early even though those same people would have left highschool if that would have meant a ton of money.
Exactly, Brett. Why do you get an education in the first place? If you could make a ton of money and NOT get a degree (I'm talking percentages, here).....would you go through the exercise? I'd just like to know his reasoning behind his decision. He's smart enough to know he can still go to school AND play pro football.
That is correct, which is odd. I always thought he wanted to be traded to a team who's mascot had the same tooth structure. Colts, Broncos...why would it matter? Do colts have smaller teeth? I'm no horse expert, so I'm not sure.
There is no reason to not go pro when your draft stock is high.....College is fun, college is important (for most people), but not for pro athletes...it is simply a checkpoint for them to mature into a Pro ready body/skill set. He has it, he needs nothing more with college. For Stanfords program, it would be huge if he stayed.....For his personal sake, no way he can justify staying.
I may have to eat my own words. Hook makes a good point....IF he legitimately thinks he can lead Stanford to a NC. He also could be wanting to win the Heisman. No one could blame him for that. Having no economic pressures (if he doesn't)....I can see why he "might" choose to stay. But, if he was my kid, I'd still tell him to leave.
Nobody is taking into account that there most likely WONT be a NFL season next year. Why would he want to sit at home when he could be playing for a National title and honing his skills and creating even more of a legend for himself?
