I was setting my camera up at a new spot yesterday (and nothing but coons the past week) but when I was walking back I heard this sound of something fighting in the woods. I stopped in the bean field as I heard a dog bark and the other noise was a very loud growl. I've heard rumors the DNR found a bobcat in the area but I don't know for sure. I think if there where dogs involved my neighbors dogs had been near my house just hours earlier. I ran to my treestand and when I got up I heard the fight move until it was quiet except the occasional snarl from the bobcat or a wine from a dog. When I got out of the stand I picked up the nearest stick I could find and ran along the beans to the main road. Later me and my dad came out with shotguns to check it out. We found no blood or sign of anything.
I hate to break the news to ya, but there are a lot of bobcats in that area. They won't bother you, and you're lucky if you even see one.
Probably could of bee anything, like already said though I wouldn't be to worried about a bobcat. You'd be lucky to see one but they are around. We've had one running around our farm for year or two. We actually saw it last fall, for about 30 seconds anyway.
Bobcats ain't gonna bother ya... the sound of their scream at 5am in the dead dark will make your hair stand on end though....
