If anyone is currently living on water that is not coming from a private well this may interest you. Washing your clothes in city water and even showering in it can possibly ruin your hunt.

Most scent control products will not block the chemicals used to treat city water supplies. We all know that perfumes in detergent is a big NO NO, but this is something that my dad pointed out that is something I would have never even thought about. I currently live on a property with a well so its not a concern anymore.

I don't know how many times I have used scent killing products from washing my clothes, showering, sprays and unscented deoterent and had the wind change a little on a stalk and my cover get blown. My previous house was on city water and could have been the reason for some of these failed stalks.

Just something to think about. I dont think there have been any tests to prove this.

    I've thought about this before.

Thank God I dont have city water at my house or my farm, but just because well water lacks checmicals does not mean it lacks any odor.

There is a point where scent control becomes too much of a pain in the rear.

There is a little trick to beating a whitetails nose- working the wind !!

I break that wind rule more than I should, but, you've gotta risk big to win big, I guess.

I have to say your not totally right on this. There are a TON of smells that can from well water. I work in the water well bussiness (drilling, pumping systems, and conditioning) I would have to say it is most likely better then the Chlorine content you will find in most city water. If you want to know for sure, you can take a sample of water and send it into your local lab (if you don't know of a lab, contact your local well contracter)

Just thought, I'd put that out there.

i agree there are problably just as many scents in well water but wouldn't the chemicals in the city water spook more animals? It seems like the scents in well water would be more natural

Depending on the city you live in or near, some filteration systems will clean the water with UV filteration, and total filteration so the water comes out totally pure. Now, i agree with more natural smells in well water...to a point. However, depending on the source of water supply in the well, some of the smells, would be from a totally new smell to an animal.

My feeling in the matter is that, well vs city(depending on how it is filtered/disinfected) is more or less a mute point.

    Just my 2 cents

Sometimes people reach the point of OCD with scent control. I think this is a good example.
