Permission? I thought the build along was part of the deal?!

I hope you've got some ice and snow proof resin for this thing. It's gonna be a goat killing machine! I'm already wondering whether to make my first trad. critter a mtn. goat or a brown bear.... tough choices!

No, but with a Kanga Custom in hand it's going to be a mute point 'cause dead bears don't eat humans either!

Sidenote: more hunters die hunting goats than brown bears but it's not the critters that kill 'em...

I'm not sure what Russ is calling "special" but my parents always said I was, right before they loaded me on the short bus!

Here's some of the possible limb materials (photos are of the actual boards).

I just ordered some Gaboon ebony for the wedges too. No photo necessary, it's a deep dark black chunk of wood that polishes beautifully.

I just layed out and cut a piece of the yew for the belly. It's going out Priority Mail to Russ tomorrow. I'm thinking he should have all the wood for the limbs in about a week. I think I've got more into just the raw wood for the limbs than my first bow cost me! Hey, if I can't shoot well I may as well look impressive missing!!!

Me either. I have used some of this batch on my boat as a substitute for the old damaged teak but have always been suspicious of it's origins and whether it was actually yew because it looked so different than the English yew I'm used to seeing. After doing a bunch of research on it, it is indeed Pacific yew and from what I can gather that isn't a highly exceptional piece of it but it is fairly scarce.
