Twice I've been bow hunting and had squirls climb onto my stand and stare at me! It always freaks me out, I think..that little B**t*rd is going to attck me! One time I remember trying to shue one away suttley but he wasnt having it..lol. I was sure he was going to mistake me for a tree branch. I need to bring my camera with me more.:p
Last Deer season after several days of being skunked there was a very large squirrel that spent the entire day running around on a tree limb about 15 feet away. By the end of the day after not seeing any deer come my way I was irritated to say it lightly and that squirrel would not leave me alone so I drew back on my Hoyt and pinned it to the tree. Had squirrel stew that night. Delicious!
You just need one of these... With a Pine Marten in your tree, you'll never have to worry about squirrels
They never come around me...Of course neither do the deer... Stupid chipmunks drive me nuts. Sounds like the woods are alive when you get 2 of those guys playing.
Last year, I had my treestand in a big persimmon. Just before daylight something was coming down the tree. A raccoon!!! Nearly scared the sh*t out of me.
I've seen a lot of different Pine Martin and Fishers when bow hunting the last 2 years where I hunt. They are cool to see, but I hear they can be really mean too.
Think only once did one end up in the tree with me but quickly left after realizing I was also in the tree!
I have an uncle that i hunt with through rifle season and hes apparently had a bear put its front paws on the tree he was in while bowhunting.
I had a coon come down the tree I was in but it didnt end to well for me. I jumped like a little girl and lost the bottom to my climber. lets just say my day didnt last to long my legs were getting kinda numb
I had a bobcat walk to the bottom of my tree, then it proceeded to put its front paws up the tree and look up at me.
Bear and I have had a few run ins. 2 years ago i had 2 bear cubs come up in the tree an arms length away from me as I was in a pine grove. After some coercing I managed them down before momma bear showed up.
my buddy had a squirrel jump onhis hat and fall to thground with it...thought the pompom on top was a nut!
last fall i had and owl in a tree behind me. i could hear him moving around and stuff so i turned around just in time to see him take off towards me and fly 5 feet in front of my face, so close that i could feel the wind from his wings! after he realized that i was moving he flew onto a tree in front of me, stared at me for a while, and then did the same thing again before flying off! talk about $hitting my pants!!
I freak out when a coon tries to climb my tree... I throw crackers at it trying to scare it away... but now after reading stories of bears climbing up guys trees I feel like a pussy
