I've also got my own grinder this year so no processing fees for me. Dang the the savings on cost of processing 1 deer will more than pay for my All Outdoors package. Should save me a ton of greenbacks.

If I'm lucky enough harvest a few deer that is. :)

Well - there are plenty of deer around. Now, GETTING to them can be a problem sometimes.

The other thing I had happen to me is that I took a doe with only one tag in my pocket. Had the opportunity to take another deer, but no tag......swore that would not happen again! LOL

I definitely don't have a walk-in cooler. If I take one early season again I'm just gonna quarter and keep on ice until the soonest possible time I can process it.

I was kind of shocked when I got my deer last year. Back home in PA the processor will give you all the cuts and everything you want for $40. My doe cost me $100 to process here and all I wanted was the backstraps and ground. I went the next weekend to Bass Pro and got a grinder. The next 3 deer I take will more than pay for the grinder. Haha

Yikes - $100 bucks. That is one of the reasons I do my own processing. It takes me a while, but you normally don't get your deer back for a week or more anyway. I actually enjoy processing (well not getting off the silver skin....).

Swamp stalker - AO tags are usually ready near the end of August, but have been as late as first part of Sept. They are available before the season in either case. Once you have purchased the AO package, DEM will send you an application the following year so you don't even have to worry about it! Pretty sweet deal.
