Here are some pics of the recent 2 1/2 yo bucks I have seen. I wonder how many, if any, will make to next year as they act like their age and not much smarter than their 1 1/2 yo brethren, at least during bow season. The regular season (which allows all weapons) starts in roughly 2 weeks and that is when hunting really begins as I am the only bowhunter who hunts anywhere close to my properties. But come gun season, these guys will either get smart real quick or wind up in the back of someone's pick up. This is the only time I have seen the 4 1/2 yo. The pic is not very good as it was taken with him a good 125 yards out. He did not come within bow range, but I did get a better look at him, just had a bow in my hand by then instead of a camera. He is a big, wide 8pt but a little weak on one side, probaly a 135" at best, but definitely a mature deer. I also added a few pics of the bee hive in the tree that I hunt from time to time and where some of these pics were taken. So far I've only been stung a total of 4 times which is pretty good considering my proximity to their hive and the number of them. If they ever become Africanized....well then I guess I will look awfully stupid. The 4 1/2 The 2 1/2's The bees
i can't get over the view from behind on that 4.5....dude is WIDE. I know they always look more impressive from behind, but he is a brute regardless!
Must be acting my age today, i chuckled GREAT pictures. Those are some STUD 2.5's. Do you have alot of history with them?
No, I wouldn't say a lot of history as I don't recall any of them specifically as 1 .5's. However, these deer are still unpressured so far and some of them are fairly predictable in the route/time of day they are making from bedding to their current preferred food source. The last picture and the next to last picture are the same deer and he is dumber than a box of rocks. He will be a heck of a deer in a few years but I doubt he makes it. He shows up in my neighbor's alfala field ALMOST everyday a good 30 minutes before dark. My neighbor has a tower blind on the edge of the field and is pretty non discriminatory as to what he shoots. Gun season begins in about two weeks....I'm bettting this deer doesn't see three weeks. How sensitive are you to bee stings?:D
wow those pictures are great. i havent seen that many nice bucks in the last 5 years of hunting or spotlighting
