For some reason I'm having difficultles importing video files for editing. So, you'll have to watch the entire clips

    Here's the introduction, enjoy:

The bear (how many of you would pass a bruiser like this? The bear was 85 yards from me and only 45 yards from Rob. Watch his nose go up as he winds Rob):

Here's Rob account of the stalk:

Can you believe that! Rob passed a very respectable P&Y bear! Respect!

Looking at that I'm a bit torn. He was bigger than I thought but he was even more rubbed than I thought too. I didn't even see that rub on his right hip or the real bad one on the front of his right leg. He must've lain hard up all winter on his right side to have rubbed both right legs that much. Oh well, I'll make a date with him again for next year. Great shots Will!

The rubs don't show very well on the video but he was pretty badly worn. I'm after a nice rug and he was just too torn up.

Here's a clip that shows him a little better (I had my small camera arm, and camera, supported on a tree branch. The first clip is a little shaky). You can see the rubs more clearly. He is definitely a toad!

Russ, now if you're sitting there and a bear this size or bigger walked out, and you know you have to be within twenty yards, would you begin to rethink your strategy? Check this out:

    Will

The rubs are much clearer in that vid.

No not if I had complete confidence in my equipment, ability, camo and had some sort of cover between me and the bear.

But from what you described to me on the phone then yes I might.

But either way my heart would be pounding like it was when I took the Buff @ 10 yards:deer:

I hear ya Russ. I think that was my problem...I lacked complete (100%) confidence. When I place a little more under my belt with the traditional gear, I might try something like this again. It was sure a blast just being there!

Not even near as big as the one that Rex missed with the crossbow. Just goes to show that even crossbow bolts are effected by deflection off tree limbs. The one in the video I'd guess to be a 19 - 20" skull, Rex's was pushing 22"!!!

I was 100 yards behind Rex looking through my binoculars, when that bear stepped into my field of view, 40 yards beyond him, it looked like a black SUV pulling up to the curb in front of him to pick him up!!! I've seen a lot of brown bears that big but I couldn't have imagined a black bear that big either until seeing it! It was nothing shy of AWESOME!
