Today the Sherriffs hover craft had to rescue 40 people from the ice on my end of the lake. They've been telling people to stay off the ice for a week. They had 3 rescues last weekend. Well today all these yahoos went out, the ice broke free from the shore and they were stranded on a floating chunk of ice. I mean there was open water all over the lake this week... and these dummies still want to catch their limit of walleyes or perch. LOL
They shoulda left um out there for awhile with them being that stupid Sent from my hand held hunting device
I hate stuff like that! Idiot people putting themselves and the police and fire departments at risk. But it is stupid people that keep me in a job. LOL
I just heard that on the news lol. What a bunch of morons. One guy had an ATV out there? All for some perch and walleye? No thanks.
This is true on Lake St. Clair, and it happens at least a few times every year. Its not a cheap bill and you cannot bring any of your equipment onto the chopper. The ice itself can be over a foot thick. You just never know when it might break free due to a stress crack...which is why you shouldn't be out there.
Pulling a boner and losing your ice fishing equipment - $500.00 Having to get rescued after going ice fishing on thin ice - $1,500.00 Your $6000 ATV sinking after your rescue and getting a bill for the gas and oil pollution to the lake - PRICELESS!
You do get a pricey ticket for the gas and oil polution. My buddy and his brother went through about 4 years ago. DNR told them, you get it out before sundown and we won't write you up. If you don't, you're paying. LOL They worked at it from about 10 AM until 7 at night...but they got it out.
