Well, I checked the Reconyx today and was happy to see that I had 222 photo's over the course of the week. I pic a few of the better photos to show you guys so... enjoy! And then the fog rolled in.... This dude is gonna be pretty nice, the fog mixed with the low light really made for some crappy photos, hopefully I get some better photos over the course of this week!
John, that field is alfalfa I believe. It wasn't touched since last year, there is clover, oats, and rye planted above it and below it on the hill along with corn on the opposite side of the farm. These still aren't the real big guys that a few of the guys around the farm have seen.
Thanks guys! Ryan, he should be a good one, but there are still atleast two bucks that have been spotted on the farm that are bigger, the only problem is that they have been seen crossing onto the farm from the hillside in the background. It is private property that is open to anybody who asks for permission to hunt it. We have permission to hunt the property, but it is a huge section of woods and I would have no idea where to begin scouting it, not to mention the pressure it recieves. Hopefully as the summer rolls on and the crops on the farm keep growing those bucks will move onto the farm.
Matt, thanks, I can't wait to see what some of these bucks will turn into this year. The Reconyx is awsome and I couldn't be happier with it. The unit is ridiculously expensive, way too expensive compared to other cameras, but this thing just performs. I heard the battery life and trigger speed claims from other units and was always disappointed, but I can honestly say that everything that is advertised about the Reconyx is true. Trigger speed and battery life are amazing, daytime picture quality is as good as any other unit out there and the night (IR) photos are acceptable (not the best but not horrible either). My only major complaints about the unit (besides the price) is that they don't come standard with a Python Cable Lock and that they use Compact Flash memory cards. If I pay $600 for a camera, I think that they should provide the cable so I can secure it to a tree, and the CF memory card.... why not a SD? They are cheaper, smaller, and much more practical! Dustin, thanks man, I havn't had my camera out as much this spring/summer as I would like so I can't compare him with any of the bigger bucks around the area, but I am pretty sure he is gonna be nice. He is wide and looks like he could turn into a 10 point, but he doesn't look like he has much mass and I'm not sure how much tine length he is going to put on. One thing is for sure, he has a BIG body!
I figured that I would add a few more photos from last week as well as an aerial photo of the farm and the property across the road that we have permission to hunt (if I remember, later tonight I will post up some topo maps of these properties as well). Nothing runs like a..... Lassie This dude has a death wish... he has a hole along the fence row that the camera is on. Some close-ups... This dude really wanted to show off his "rack" Check out these two B.A.M.F.'s.....straight up PIMPIN' This is the farm that the camera is on, the blue dot is where the camera is set-up... This is the property across the road that we have permission to hunt, it is a big chunk of land with no crop fields on it and it has high hunting pressure...
