some monster deer. My friend showed me a vid this weekend from his lease near NC State, it looked like something out of a magazine.

I often think I want to go to Kansas, Ohio, Iowa etc but you see photos like this on your home turf and makes me want to seek out some oppurtunities home first

One of the main reason, I am still in the Club in Anson co. produces some good deer, the county that is and feel my odds of getting on a above average buck are increased

BTw Brandon looks like your getting some great photos as well- I would like to try a trail cam one day but odds of it disappering when your land is 50 plus miles away I can't jusity the investment currently

Those are some nice deer anywhere you go. Most states have to potential to produce good bucks (140+) with the proper nutrition and age structure. It's just getting that age structure and being able to then hunt that land. That is always the trick.

Actually Frank I went to check one of my stands this week and it was gone, so I know how you feel. Everyone around here is getting much better bucks on their cams than previous years.

Yep, think your right about the county Caswell or Person I believe,

And your right about your little paradise, I wouldn't trade it either if I were in your position-
Brandon has a good hook-up as well

Hell, maybe I should move north a little

    Jeff,

Just asking, not stirring the pot here,

But why are you so content with your local deer? Why not attempt to get some ground where a 150" would lurk?

I understand that, and you know i have respect for guys who get it done (like yourself).

But, as an example, per your style...

How long can you go dating an average looking girl while your buddies are knocking down ballpark 10's every once in awhile...and you KNOW you have the skill-set to do the same if the opportunity arose?

Is their any want for Pope&Young size whitetail? Or is it truly the "journey" that matter most over all?

NO, if you are getting it "done" on your lands year after year, then one would assume you could try out some new lands in bigger buck areas and also be successful, it has nothing to do with "shooting". I was congratulating your accomplishes at your area of NC, not bashing in any way.

I jwas just seeing if there was any desire for the "bigger and better" POV, thats all,

    Carry on :D

If Jeff came to my hunting grounds and hunted for one entire season he would kill the biggest buck of his life to this point.
    Reasons:
    1. The bucks are here and not there.
    2. he has a quick and natural sense for animals
    3. He is driven to succeed
Now, would this buck be a 170" monster?? maybe, they are here, but not likely, but I will tell he would likely kill a 120-135" deer on any of my grounds. Have I ever done it? yep I have but it wasn't easy, I think jeff would get it done in one season..he has whole lot more drive than my lazy ass.
