Just some things to consider (adapted)... feel free to add your own. •If you open a gate, close it. •If the hunting laws say it... do it. •If a tree stand or other safety item breaks, fix it. (If you can’t fix it, call someone who can or replace it.) •If you borrowed it, return it in the same or better condition. •If you brought it in (trash) take it with you when you leave. •If you moved it, put it back where it was. •If it(tree stand or game cam) belongs to somebody else, leave it alone . •If someone is still in the woods when you come out at dark... wait for them. •If you shot it... find it. •If someone else shot it... offer to help them find it. •If you think you may need it... pack it.
Those are good ones, here is another and it works for fishing also. If some one brings you to their hunting or fishing spot, it doesnt make it your hunting or fishing spot.
Yes, yes, yes!! So many guys dont understand this. It amazes me and is a quick way to lose a friend. Also, if you ask a landowner and he says "No", dont be a pest and continue to ask all the time. It is not always easy to tell someone "no", but it gets annoying if they keep asking. I even had one guy keep calling and tell me that he would only hunt during the week and I could have exclusive access to my OWN land on the weekend. Move on.
So he gets five days and you get one... He made concessions... I can't believe you didn't go for that.
I guess I am kind of selfish like that. He was shocked and quite indignant that I would not go for that. I see why some landowners end up finding it easier to just tell everybody "no". Too bad. This was even after I told him that the only reason I bought that farm was to hunt it! What a Gomer. Very appropriate use of "Oh brother..."
Good list. I'd also add take atleast one piece of trash you didn't bring out with you from the woods. Leave these these areas we love a little more beautiful each time we leave them.
