I am new to planting food plots and just have couple questions I wanted to ask so Im better prepared next time.

When do you guys go out and get your sample for the next growing season?

Do you get a sample done for spring and fall or just one for both?

How long does it take to get your results back?

Any other advice would be great also. Thanks everyone.

I get mine done once a year in the spring...as far as turn around time, you'll have to contact your local extension office and see.

i've found that sending a sample to whitetail institute is about as quick as using anyone locally. easy to read results emailed within about a week or so.

do you do one sample per a certain amount of acres? or if your plots are a little spread out... say 200 yards away?

I'd take a sample for multiple locations. You'll be money ahead because you get the exact fertilizer and lime you need for each one. I took 3 soil samples in and was e-mailed results in 24 hours.
