Mainly pertains to the early season guys who still have bucks doing pattern routines. Any one feel like the have the upper hand on a good buck for the earlier opener? My season starts later, October 1st, the bucks have usually split from the crop fields that have browned up, and moved on, so getting a pattern is a tough around here. last season i thought i had one down. I watched a 140" er come out everyday in the same spot until one day before the season never seen him again. But then again, our crops are going to be green yet for awhile, maby this will put the bucks moving elsewhere on the back burner.
Jeff, does she have alot of white on her, or have they dissapeared for the time being??? Really looking forward to a doe harvest with alot of white on her...not her belly or tail either. lol
Crick from what I saw in IN today (assuming your area is similar),,,,they will have crops still green as well as crops already harvested come season opener. There were shin high late beans right next to dried out brown corn. MOST of the beans were in the process of turning color though. That flat ground is WEIRD! I am a total fish out of water up there with zero terrain minus a levee following the river. I liked what I saw minus the rampant atv trails on the southern end of the piece. We prepped 3 stand sites and hung 3 trail cams. Ill return in two weeks to make a day of it. Hopefully find about 6-7 more stand site possibilities and check/move the cams. I am PUMPED to give IN a go.
Nothing for me. My cameras have been out for a couple months, I need to get in there next week and check them. I just moved 350 miles south of my property, so I'm not sure how much hunting I will be doing this year.
I have a stand in an area that i belive ill be able to meet a good size but on his route to his food source. It's going to be a gamble since i have only seen him take that route twice, but with all the doe action taking the same route a smaller bucks i think it will be a hot rutting stand.
I am still getting pics of a few nice bucks on a regular basis, but that could all be thrown out the window by Oct. 1st... Who knows..
I have been watching this same tall 8pt walking around my property...does the same thing every night....walking this bean field at dusk. i gotta get him across the field to my property though....so it might be tough..
