Who else has a certain buck or more than a few that they know is in their area and are after. Going into last year I was on a 4 year hunt for a big buck that was just known as "Wide 8" (then he grew a 9th point and the name didn't make sense, but oh well). After more than 8 very close encounters with this deer, he was not spotted last year. I do however have a set of sheds from a deer spotted 3 times last year, but all at night while driving out. No trail cam pics of him but last year he was close to 160 from his sheds. His body size was very small, and he did not have much mass on his clean 10 point rack last year. It was quite possible he was only 3.5 years old last year, but more likely was 4.5. Hopefully I'll just get a glimpse at this guy this year. There's also a 10 pointer that I passed on last year. He was a 2.5 year old last year and looked very good. I was being filmed and was very tempted to take him but let him walk. I'm not positive but I watched a 3.5 year old 10 pointer a few nights ago munch on acorns and once I pulled out the footage from last year I realized it just might be "Benchpress" (He was taped last year in a spot known as the bench on our place, and this is where I saw the buck a few days ago). These are my main 2 targets for this fall. As I sit here looking at a forecasted heavy SW wind for tomorrow I notice that spot of several points below the "bench" leading into a standing corn field is perfect. Maybe JUST maybe I will be posting photos of "Benchpress" tomorrow How about everyone else?
I have three picked out. ONe will be 4.5 or 5.5 this year, I have been watching him for years, and the last encounter i had with him was during my "Doe Only" time at the farm judging by other deer, he could very well go record 8 point if he survived the summer!! Knowing my luck he either didnt, or someone is gonna get him before me lol There are 2 really nice tens that are sneaking across A field at the Family place. Every morning, 7:30 I just need to get the wind right to get em And then there is the 12...... Good lord. He is massive, If i get a crack at him i would be a happy boy, He makes my uncles 172 of 2 years ago look average The main goal is that 8 point. I have watched him grow up, and been close to him so much. It would be the greatest buck i could ever hope to shoot Good luck with yours!
None. Well, that isn't true. There's a nice 8 I had a run in with last season. Almost sealed the deal, but he won that day.
3 on one piece, that I captured on cam this summer. On my other piece which I only hunt as a travel corridor during the rut, there was a great 160+ buck roaming in there last year, but being a rut area....no telling where he calls home or if he'll be around again this year....sure hope he will!
2 on one piece, and 3 on another [right now] Otherwise, like Trev, I've got a good rut spot that you'll never know who or what is roaming through!
I can't really say I have any particular buck(s) picked out but I know there are a few in my hunting areas. A buddy of mine showed me trailcam pics of 3 nice ones and we hunt the same general areas.
The only buck that I know for sure Is around Is the buck 12 yards from my deck (my target). :D In all seriousness I'm hoping like hell the 8 point I passed on last year made It through the gun season and Winter, Spring, Summer and Is still around this season. Another buck I often think about Is a 130" or so 3.5 year old 8 point that I had on cam a few times at the end of the deer season last year, he should be s stud this year If he's still alive!!!
I have about 4 I have picked out. Probably a 160" 12 point, a 150", and 2 140" bucks on all the land I hunt. I have my fingers crossed!
Yea I have a few I would like to get a shot at. They hung out on our farm all spring and summer, but who knows where they'll be in about a month. Hopefully the does on the property will bring them through.
