When a buck matures.... do they "move out" ? After going through some pics and posting on Quicks thread I got to thinking, I've been really setting my cameras up to get pics since 2007 now, and I have one buck that I know of that's returned for 3 years 07-09, and this year, I haven't got pics of anything that I reconized from last year that should be a Monster this year... SO is it possible that when These bucks mature, they move out? Would You say I'm pushing them out with pressure as they get older and smarter? Take in mind though that I've never seen any of these in bow range... ever. And if someone around here killed them, Where I live I'm pretty sure I would find out... unless it was illegal or something... I'm ready to put something mature down with the bow and I'm getting my butt handed to me... Your thoughts?
A mature buck will move out if pressured enough but the dispersal of Bucks is usually when they are younger and feel the need to find there own core area that there comfortable with. If you have seen him 3 years in a row chances are that it may be his core area unless he is just showing up while the crops are in, then moving to another area.
It's been my experiance that once a deer hits 4 they tend to not go where the camera is. Like that picture i posted in Frans page of the 4 year old I had 3 pictures of him that year. The year before we had over 100 pictures of him and saw him a bunch of times. That year nobody ever saw him until a neighbor shot him. Once they turn 4 they are a completely differant animal and stay farthetr away from human order. IMO
Thats why these big boys, get so big and rarely see them during daylight hours. I'm hunting a buck right now that I haven't yet got a pick of, I seen him last year one time. But I found his sheds side by side this year and was only 50 yards from where I seen him last season. I think some bucks don't necessarily just move out they know how to adapt to certain situations like human intrusion and stay away from their core area until they later investigate, which might be nocturnally.
