Yup, the players believe they deserve life support for ever... even if they only play 3 or 4 years. What other profession in the world pays you the money these guys get and guarantees you the best retirement medical benefits and all they're after. Screw 'em. You DON'T have to take the job. As a business owner.... my books are closed. You haven't paid for the right to look at them and then say.... I want MORE. Did you pay several hundred million to have these books and buy this franchise. NO... then you don't get to look. If I have a loss on the books will you give some money back. Hell NO. You're an employee and I own the business. The owners should have the right to just fire their asses and hire someone else without being tied to a several million dollar a year salary after they're fired. God I hate unions. LOL

What's with the upcoming draft? The top college prospects have been invited to the draft as usual. They are being asked NOT to attend? To my knowledge they have no ties to the players union correct? They have no contract yet. What right does the players union have to tell them not to go? Screw you dudes I'm getting drafted and playing in the NFL.

The NFL is a CLASSIC example of an existing union...............where none is needed.

What's you union guys' take on this? They're just looking for a fair wage, right? Preserving their basic human rights, huh? Making sure "the man" doesn't stick it up their ass!

Actually the whole draft thing is pretty interesting. Not exactly sure how it works because it seems for some reason the these college kids are already tied to the players union. But, why couldnt the owners draft/sign these kids coming out of college? Negotiate their own contract. Even more leverage for the owners. 2,3,4 years of a healthy college crop and you'd start developing "new" superstar talent to fill the seats again. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees can watch in their living room like the rest of us.

And if I was one of these kids about to be drafted? You're going to tell me I can't attend? I can't even play ? Been waiting for this moment since I was about 6 years old. All the sweat, blood and tears and this is what I get? BBBBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ wrong answer.

    Peyton Manning's salary=somewhere around $15,000,000 a year
Drew Brees=$5,000,000 and looks to blow up this year
    Tom Brady=just signed a $16,000,000 a year salary

And why are these guys suing?

NY.....The players are using $$ as their weapons in the picket line you describe. They'll deny the players who cross the picket line access to the player's union (in the future.....and, if it exists). They'll be ostracized for their entire careers (again, if the players' union is successful). Some players WILL "cross the line" (so to speak). The allure of an NFL contract will be greater than the fear of being a players' union outcast. We saw this in the last lockout.

I wish they'd just wipe the slate clean with the current players union (hell....announce that's what you're gonna do!). If the players coming out of college KNEW this was going to be the case.....do you think they'd show up for the draft, then?

I can see this happing, followed with these new players realizing there is a bigger piece of the pie to get in a few years. Then the cycle starts all over again.:whip:

There are always two sides to everything, well said. Until we put ourselves in the players or owners shoes it's hard to comment on what "we" would do.
