This year so far so good. I haven't drew back yet either. I've wounded my fair share of deer over the last 20+ years. It still bothers me just as bad now as it did when I started hunting. I've learned many lessons through the school of hard knocks.
I can only assume that I have missed the bandwagon and reasoning to bang on Soda in regards to this thread. Don't be confused with my argument, I am in no means sticking up for you, or him (Sota), but I feel like this forum is turning into middle school in a sense that everyone gangs up on one person in particular so everyone else can be united and unified in a common understanding. It's unfortunate that people join this forum asking for help, general bow hunting questions or questions that spark one's interest and get bashed for it and never sign on again because they're either embarrassed, misunderstood or pissed.
this is the original question asked. if this question isn't aimed at gathering statistics then I must be really dumb. clearly this question is asking for number totals to date. you still never answered why you want these statistics. why not ask how many bucks have been killed this year instead? PETA is lurking in the grass waiting to pounce when hunters screw up. didn't you hear about the lion thing? you seemed to get awfully defensive about PETA. hmmmm
Well I for one have NEVER lost ANY deer I have ever shot with an arrow...I've also yet to shoot a deer with an arrow as this is my first season. But for what its worth I do like that most members on this site are so willing to help us young/new archers with all different areas of hunting. It helps to know there is so much experience willing to help if I need to ask
I wish you luck, I am sure that you have done a great deal up to this point to get ready to hunt from learning to shoot, learning how to scout, putting up stands etc. Be certain to develop a recovery plan, with what equipment you need and perhaps even a friend or mentor to join you in the field to help search for the deer once you get an arrow in it.
I have hunted deer for 25 years with a gun and a bow and arrow. My dad didn't hunt and I didn't have any grandpas they both died young. I taught myself all I could through reading and TV there were no bowhunting forums back in the OLDEN DAYS. I shot three deer in those early years that were not recovered. The first one was a quarting to shot the second my broadhead was loose in my arrow so in flight all the blades fell out and I'm not sure what happened the third time oh and I should add a old guy told me after u shoot them deer just smoke a cigarette and then go look for them I was 13 at the time. I probably chased the wounded deer into the next county lol!!I just about gave up this great sport!!! So I think this sight is a great place to ask questions and for the more experienced hunters to share their knowledge even if it is about a poorly hit deer. It happens but don't get discouraged just practice shooting more and more and ask for help
