Given my dusky buck encounter, how whould you proceed? Would you keep going back? Go back just tonight? Leave it be for a few days? Not return until the rut starts to heat up? Or other?

I would go back tonight ...they are so patternable this time of year .... or you may want to move a 100 yards or so down to where they came from to see if you can get a bead on him earlier ...

There was a S wind last night, and it is S today. Tomorrow am it's switching to NNW. I leaning towards sneaking in again tonight, and then leaving it alone for a couple weeks. Either way, I'll need to get in sometime relatively soon so that I can retrieve my stand and sticks...

So that's what I'm thinking, but I can still be persuaded.

Honestly, if was 100 inch like you said, I would be looking for bigger deer. But if that is something you would want to shoot, then I would go back but pick a tree closer to where you first saw/heard him.

Like I said, I couldn't really tell how big he was, I'm not sure if I'd shoot him or not... but I'd like the chance to decide:D

I voted go back to night and give it a rest, but as long as the wind is in your favor I would return until you at least get a chance to see how big the buck actually was, then decide if he's one you're interested in or not.
