I've talked to several people my age (early 20's) that voted Libertatian, and talked to many more ppl that would have voted that way had they known those ideologies even existed within one party.

Being posted from white suburbia, classic.

I happen to live in said community you are referring to....and yes, it most certainly IS the problem. It's not a race issue, but a social economic issue. Both whites and blacks in my neighborhood that are of lower income, think nothing of the government beyond how it can help them. You don't bite the hand that feeds you, and you most certainly don't vote against the liberals if receiving assistance..a solid game plan for picking up support as a party, would be to grow the number receiving assistance.

One view we share in common, is that the republican party as we know it, is dead for a while. No chance. They have two options, swing left (and somewhat significantly) to have a shot at office...or keep waiting for the spending to finally meet its limit...and be there to say I told you so when its much too late.

It isn't a red vs blue battle...in my over simplified eyes, I simply want to vote for whoever spends less. Until we get the budget under control, the country will continue spiraling downwards in a hurry... Both sides of the fence have failed at this majorly lately.

    Who lived in Detroit:)

16% vote came from those classified as "Poverty", of which 5% voted for Romney.

I do disagree that the republicans have to swing left, they don't. They just need certain folks to shut up.

What's more interesting when you look at the numbers is this:

4/5 richest states(median income) voted Obama, Alaska being the state that Voted Romney

5/5 poorest states(median income) went for Romney

I think the thing going unspoken, about both sides of the fence....and all races..... is just how stupid the average person really is.

The overall ignorance of the general population these days is astounding. And the bs flows freely from both sides. Most anti-Obama guys have no clue as to why they are, same with his supporters. Fewer and fewer educated voters out there, regardless of their belief system.

    !!

Those numbers are a bit skewed in the fact that urban centers bring you two things.... the Economic centers ($$$) and the HUGE concentrated voting masses who have no part of said money. But it is an interesting stat no doubt...if anything, it shows the poor states (namely the SE USA) aren't voting for the hand that feeds them, there may be hope after all! haha:wave:

I completely agree with this, and it baffles me. In a day when voters should be more informed than ever, they are getting dumber. Both sides are taking advantage of this stupidity. Just look at how much was spent on marketing.

The amount of false or slandered information regurgitated on forums, facebook, and in emails, is mind blowing. Appalling, really.

A man with a proper education can still be mislead, if a person takes no steps to ponder the results of major decisions in their personal life (IE) buying a home, a car or educational options that will directly impact their future why would they study politics?
Most who vote, vote with their heart not their mind, ignorance is bliss!
America is quickly becoming a land of the haves and the have nots, and this division will serve none of us well.

Unfortunately, I believe it may be too late to save our once great country that was once one of the world leaders in manufacturing, and a very prosperous nation where values meant something. We've become a country dependent upon others to produce for us because our "global" economy has made it cheaper to let the Koreans or Chinese make in and import it than pay a little extra for American made, all the while helping our economy. Babies are now "choices" until the 24th week of gestation, drugs are now commonplace and voters even voted to legalize marijuana in some states now. Is this really "progress?" Agreed that voters are far too ignorant, but much of that blame goes to the media that has misled them by reporting in a very left-slanted manner. By 2016, we'll likely be $24 trillion in the wrong direction and those same fools will somehow find a way to not blame the fools they elected who are the responsible, or should I say irresponsible, ones who should be blamed.
