How are my conservative friends adjusting their lifestyle in preparation for the future?

I know myself I’m going back to full time work so stuff that I hired people for in the past I’ll be doing myself and I don’t see ever buying a new car again and really regret the gas guzzling SUV I bought the wife a few months back. I’m freaked out and buckling down on any spending as well as cutting back any where I can. I just think you need save as much money for your future as possible while your still able because we won't see another stock market boom or real state boom.

I don’t expect to ever see unemployment below 6-8% again ever or any real growth in our economy in the future. All my business friends are shell shocked as well and cutting back or concealing any future dreams or plans of expanding their businesses.

We’ll still be the greatest country but it’s on a sliding scale so...

I've actually used it a number of times in in the last four years, and it never gets old.

I never miss a chance. I'm very opportunistic.

Let's not allow our fears to create our own self fulfilling prophecies. Things like this ebb and flow in America, always have and always will. We'll all get through it together and come out stronger in the long run.

Again with the level-headedness. Geez, MM, enough already.

I think people would rather panic or take steps to help things fail. As evidenced by the market. Look, we don't always get the president or leader that we want. Not everyone likes their boss. You can either suck it up and work together, or ***** and moan and blame those above you.

I don't like Obama. I didn't like Romney. I knew we were screwed either way. Best thing I can do is work with the hand we're dealt. If everyone did this, there wouldn't be so much division amongst Americans right now. Stop acting like 5 year olds.

    Priorities:
1a) Pay off any debt, 1b) reduce expenses, 2) invest carefully.

    Assuming status quo:
Housing mess will take 10years to clear. Interest rates will stay low for 2-3 years, unless the fed credit rating goes south. Commodity cost will continue to rise.

Wildcards: EU, Middle East, Asian economies (specifically China, Japan, India), US Tax restructuring, UN mandates, catastrophic events.

PS- The present administrator in the round room has little bearing on the economics or my financial priorities.

I'm not running for the hills my any means but I'm also not spending foolishly thinking I'll make it up down the road.
Capitalist and businesses is where the government get their revenue and with a party that is unfriendly to business being voted in again does not hold well to capitalism.

I don't think we'll ever see a republican president again. I think my party is dead.

Think the Romans, (ancient) Greeks, Mongolians, Persians, Egyptians... said the same thing?

I'm just saying its only a matter of time and to think because it hasn't happened means its not going to happen.

All we have to do is look at what's happening in Greece and Spain to understand the road were traveling will end in problems.

You couldn't get less conservative President in office and he won by a landslide. IMO The majority loves this guy and the majority rules. The End

I had a conservative friend try to talk to me about 2016 election, I told him to ---- off with that, we're cooked.

I really feel like killing some stuff now:-/

Not sure what they may have said. I do know that unless I am willing to move somewhere else, this is where I live and where my family lives. We could all choose to pull our heads into our shells and come out every four years to check the political climate or we can view some of what we may view today as obstacles, as opportunities. We can seize those opportunities and make the most of them or we can surrender. I am not much for surrendering personally. I have a son with a life to live long past when I am gone and I am going to do my best to help prepare him to succeed within the confines of the way things are, not how I wish they would be or the way they were for me.

Obama was re-elected... I don't like the guy... so what? I don't like mosquitoes and coyotes either but I keep going hunting... because that is reality... and I choose to live life to the fullest measure I can for as long as I can, making as much positive impact as I can along the way.

    Give me a better option.
