He's had quite a few dominating performances this year. He is definitely one of the best young pitchers in the game. Detroit's front office has actually done a decent job of using their farm system the last few years. Not like the past where they traded a lot of good, young players.

At the time, that was a great trade. They traded him for Doyle Alexander near the midway point and he made a big difference in helping them win the penant, including two HUGE performances against the blue jays as the season was winding down.

"Alexander went on to provide one of the most dramatic boosts to a pennant race in major league history. He started in 11 of the Tigers' 51 remaining games, going 9-0 with three shutouts and a 1.53 ERA. Pitching just two months for the Tigers, he actually came in fourth in the AL Cy Young voting."

Now its easy to look at a few years later (like many trades) and say "what the hell where they thinking?" But at the time it looked like a great trade. You never know for sure how a prospect will turn out. There have been plenty more flops than stars. But the Tigers had plenty of bad years after that, and hey, we needed something to complain about right? Man they had some horrible seasons.:(

As am I Jeff, as am I. It's sad to see their stellar first half give way to this slide. To make matters worse, Texas and NY are on absolute tears.:(

Jeff I never knew you were a Red Sox fan... Im really not a huge fan of any team, I usec to really love the Braves, but that just got ugly...However, the Braves of the 90's were stacked like hell!!
