I have used a climbing stand more and more the last two seasons. I am trying to hunt more places each year, and I don't have the time to hang stands at each of them. Plus I like to move around a lot. Even if it wasn't beneficial, I have A.D.D when it comes to sitting in the same trees over and over.

I nicknamed my climber "Tank". He is 28 lbs, not including all the other crap I strap to him, and doesn't pack down nicely. I had a love/hate relationship with him. I was happy to see this show up on my porch.

I added a LW Alpha Hang-on and sticks for a mobile hang-on set-up to go along with my Summit Viper climber. I just got my LW last week and got to practice with it some this weekend.

Vito, how does the hand climber system work? I have a summit that you turn around and face the tree and sit on the bar and then lift the foot platform up with your feet that has straps on it. This obviously is much different.

GFY, I started to type an explanation, but I think this is easier. It comes with "sit-climb strap" (you can see a drawing on the box) that I haven't used it. I borrowed a buddy's to make sure I liked it before purchasing it, and he didn't have it on his. Going to try it with the strap this week.

man that just seems like to much for me...i love my summit goliath...

its a love / hate relationship with the bar in the front though..i can get up and down a tree in two seconds using that bar , sitting on it.

but its obviously takes some shots away from you if a deer is underneath or in a downward angle.

I have been wanting to get one for a while now, (lone wolf) that is..but wasnt sure if i would like it....

is it relatively easy for any of you that has one to get used to it?

The summit platform is 10 inches shorter. May not matter to some but it makes a difference for me.

Josh, I tried the Openshot too. I was very close to buying one 2 years ago. It is 2 1/2 pounds lighter and I agree the seat is more comfortable. For me, the fact the the Lone Wolf packed flat was more important than 2 1/2 pound difference. I wanted the smallest climber I could find. I felt like these were the two best options, and I just preferred the Lone Wolf.

I would suggest anyone try them before buying one, if they have the chance. Opinions can vary greatly.

Some of the guys in elk camp last week were asking me my opinions on Summit and Lone Wolf (it had come out that I used to be on Summit's Pro Staff) and why I exclusively use the Lone Wolf Hand Climber now. One of the guys said "I guess you can sum it up by saying the Lone Wolf is made for packing in and killing, pure and simple."

I think that's a pretty accurate assessment; I love mine.
