about 12:30 all excited and says something is after the dogs...My long guns are in the safe...I have a Concealed Weapons Permit and carry a Glock .357 sig. It goes on the nightstand when I turn in...So I jump up grab the glock and flashlight and run outside to the wailing dogs.... I see they have a juvenile copperhead coiled up in the defensive curl so I get my wife and son to drag the dogs onto the screened porch and level the glock.... It is then that I realize I'm old deaf and blind...I forgot my glasses the snakes head was about the size of the tip of my index finger it's dark... I can't see the sights ...anyway I do the best that I can and begin blazing away... After around 5 rounds..the wife son and snake are all running around the yard with their arms waving above their heads..(except of course the snake cause he didn't have arms..but he woulda if he had em.) Anyway...I had to resort to a shovel. Gettin old is hell.... SB there was a time....lol
Why would the dogs go after a copperhead in the first place? those must be some good dogs if they know a lil snake is dangerous!
The shovel is mightier than the glock. You'd have to get a hand trowel so you could conceal carry though
Very Glad to hear the dog are ok. I know the feeling of having small targets that seem to pull some matrix moves to dodge bullets. Had the same issue with a 40 pound pure russian hog that was hell bent on chopping anything near it.
I needed that laugh I can imagine people running around in the early morning like that, but glad to hear the dog is ok.
