So I've been musky fishing (updated)...

    And we caught a few.

And something pretty rare happened. A musky double, hooked less than 5 seconds apart.

We are just coming into prime musky season. Hopefully we can stay after them.

I'm speechless. I've never even heard of that many musky on one outing, let alone a double. You guys nailed them, that's for sure.

    Awesome!
Some damn impressive fishing outings you have! And great pix to go along.

What was that spotted one? I dont know if I ever saw one like that, although I'll admit I am mostly a bass/trout guy.

Just to be clear, those are from 2 different outings. The first few (spotted ones) are great lakes muskies. The others are barred northern muskies. We landed 3 both times out.

Nice job man! Great fish and great photos. I've only caught a few small muskies in my life, but they were a blast. Well done sir. :tu:

I've got a good friend who's a state fisheries biologist for Missouri and was at one time in charge of the muskie program here... he's taken me once, but it was a bit early and cold. He's promised several more trips to me later this summer/fall, and I'm looking forward to it.

It'd be a blast with fly tackle though.

Musky certainly are the most bizarre and intriguing fish I've ever chased. They are a top predator who fear nothing. Its crazy have a fish that big right on your fly, follow it to the boat, and continue to investigate it only a few feet away from you and the boat. They are a very cool fish.

When they are off, they are about impossible to catch. When on, you can have some good days. I think we've been out hunting muskies 6 times so far this year. We've had a follow or two most days. Not bad odds for chasing muskies with flies around here. We'll take it!

I see you crossed the threshold of calling it hunting muskies instead of fishing. It seems to fit better, that's for sure.

Hehe...it certainly feels more like hunting than fishing. Similar to how we search for big brown trout. We call that hunting too. Like you said, seems fitting.
