http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=x4TtVA-9D7Q To chant USA... in the USA... is apparantly racist. Isn't the uniqueness of our country largely due to the fact that we are a melting pot of all races? Is it wrong to be proud of your country.... If you, or your family were/are/ or is a decendant from another country, but here legally to live and prosper and enjoy all of the freedoms America has to offer(even though they are slowly being taken away) ...is there even a remote reason to be offended? I really don't get it. Mass appologies? Bannings from state title games? Really??
they live in the USA, and are US citizens, so how is it racist? If they arent proud to be American citizens, send them back to wherever the hell they came from because they dont deserve to be here if thats the case. We chant USA at wvu basketball games when kilicli scores and you dont see anybody crying about it.
It's definitely a racial slur. The other school is all minorities. In San Antonio I would suspect they're all of Spanish decent. Definitelly racial to do that against a school that resides within our borders. It can only cause friction and trouble. Low class poor winners in my opinion.
I seriously doubt that they, nor their parents are from Spain. More than likely they are of Mexican decent I'd agree that it's in poor taste, but we are only getting one side of the story. What caused the chant? Did they come out carrying a Mexican flag? I don't know, but none of us know what cause the chant. Here's an example of just the opposite. http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/mexicoflag.asp
Im not really down with the "shipping them all back" rhetoric.. but I really want to make an attempt to see the other side clearly. I kind of get your jist Dave.. given a "crooked or misguided" mentality... but the other school resides within our borders. They are Americans as well... no? If racism is constantly sensationalized, how will anyone ever get past the PC bs?
Well what do you think the purpose of the chant was? Really, I can't think of one good, valid, reason for it other than as a slam against they're race, ethnic background or something along those lines. And don't even suggest they were celebrating our country. I doubt they do the same chant against Honky High. Just poor taste that does nothing but tear down a bridge a little bit at a time. You can *****(as I do from time to time) about politically correct all you want.... this is a bit beyond PC in todays enviornment..
Recently ive been keeping out of all these "USA" and "Save the Children from Kony" type arguments. Its all PC bull****. As ive matured, ive realized how little i care about government and politics. Heres some food for thought, how different are we as Americans from say, the Nazis? Pretty far you'd say? Ask the native Americans...im sure they would beg the differ...
