I've found two that I really dig... The S&W 22A http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...57765_757752_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y The Walther P22 http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...angId=-1&parent_category_rn=43804&isFirearm=Y Now this will be used strictly for Plinking... maybe some sparingly small game use, but 99.9% just for fun... I want it to be fairly reliable and accurate. Semi-auto is a must, And I want to add a open red dot sight to the piece. Which brings me to my thought process, the red dot can be mounted on the walther but the s&w has a dovetail rail built in. I like that alot... The links I posted are the basic models of each one, with the s&w boasting a 5.5" barrel and the walther a 3.4", So accuracy would be favored to the S&W? Price is also well favored at msrp $308 vs $375( and I know where I could go pick up the S&W for $250) But the Walther is Lighter(15oz vs 35oz empty), fits better in your hand and has a better fit, finish, and overall look to it. IMO Now if it were you, or if you have either of these two, or any other suggestions as to what I should take a look at, please reply away :D
You can also get the P22 with a 5" barrel, a target edition. Fun factor would favor the P22 because you have the rail underneath to accessorize the pistol with a lazer (with out having to drop crimson trace money) or an led light. I would look into some 1911 style pistols as well.
that neos is nifty, sorry bout the short reply earlier i was a corpse. lol I love the mark II and u should be able to find a used one in the same range. otherwise, thw walther all the way
Thank you BHF.... I found my next pistol.... :D I've been reading and watching reviews and for the price, looks like this gun cant be beat!
No worries bro, this gun breaks down in seconds, a breeze to clean and then put back together! Have fun with it, I do!
Id definitely go with the smith over the walthers..... ive shot both and the walthers i have shot are picky with ammo... the smith i shot was not and it does hold very well for me..... i have a ruger MK III .22/45 and i love it, and the field stripping to clean it is not bad after you do it the first few times so look past the negative reviews for that.. 5.5 bull barrel and shoots awesome i love the gun... i would say give it a look but you cant go wrong with that smith its a good gun.
Of the two, I would say the S&W. That being said, I'd look for a good condition Ruger Mark III pistol. A friend of mine has three of them: 7", 8" and 10" barrels. Amazing pistols and have never had an issue shooting any of them.
I checked out the Rugers, and I'm sure they are great pistols and I'm not putting them down, but Dang they are Pricey and Ugly ( IMO of course) Different folks, different strokes...
Yeah, they kind of have the German Luger look to them which I'm not overly fond of. But, they do work quite well and are extremely accurate and well balanced (except the 10" barrel as it's a little front heavy ).
