So I want to cancel my cable/satellite. Anyone else done it yet?

Depends. Some things yes and some no. You WILL miss some things there is no way around it.

Looks like our plans have changed. We moved to the farm 2 weeks ago and the internet we will be getting won't be able to stream much TV. 3mb download and 40gb a month of bandwidth. Looks like we will be getting Dish after all.

Yeah Trevor. If you have someone else's log in that does pay for TV you can use that if you feel comfortable with that.

For example during march Madness. You can stream all games on CBS for free. But can only stream 3 hours of the pay network for free unless you have a log-in for cable/dish network. I burnt through my 3 hours on the second day and now can't see any of the TBS, TNT tru tv games.

I watch any game for any sport I want online, so technically you can without TV but not without Internet. I would be fine, it's the wife who wouldn't know what to do.

I use Project Free TV and First Row to watch TV and sports. Regular shows can be watched a few days later, sports on the other hand must be watched live - I don't care who thinks otherwise because you are wrong. :)

Is first row how you watch any sporting event?

Yes, but I personally only use it for NFL but they have the other major sports on the menu as well. First Row, as any other "watch free TV online" site, initially you do have to close a few ads and a popup or so, but after you do if you have a decent connection the quality is fine. Also, never install the media player the ad claims you need.

Cancelled satellite service when we moved to town. What we don't get on antenna, we get on computer. Costs a bucket load less and we still get what we want to watch.

Sports. I don't care about anything else. Tell me what I need to get all sports. Without the pops ups and other horse crap. I've tried the "Shady" programs before and ended up with nothing but problems.

It's not a program, its just a web site, but yes it can be annoying. None of those roku googley Apple TV setups will give you a full sports package that will satisfy.

I can check to see if this First Row has an app on Plex. It will be unofficial, but so are all the other "non legal" streaming service apps

If you find something that can get me my football I would gladly make the switch. Like Brad, not having access to sports is literally the only thing that holds me back. I love the idea of ditching cable.

So Hooker, do you also receive any OTA channels? I'm about to pull the trigger on this bad boy just so I can receive 3 or 4 channels (NBC, FOX, and CBS). ABC is the complete opposite direction and I'll need another antenna so I probably won't bother.

Antennas Direct 91XG UHF TV Antenna (91XG) from Solid Signal

TV Fool has good info for those wanting to see which OTA channels they might get. Better than AntennaWeb - Home

Do you like Roku? Why did you decide on that and not HULU? I have a PS3 that never gets used anymore. Guess I could use it to stream Roku or Hulu, right?

Finch, Roku is just the player. Hulu is a service (like Amazon Plus, Netflix, etc.,) that you can stream through the Roku box.

Unless I'm completely misreading your question.

Haven't had cable/satellite for 8 years now. We use a computer tower with an hdmi output(this gets around not having the "proper video player") and the ps3 for everything. Front row sports is how I get around the NFL and MLB black out rules (I really hate those). My wife is pretty computer/internet savvy so we get everything we want from the internet including new release movies and any shows you would want to watch can be found on the web pretty much right after they are over w/out commercials too.
