I figured what the hey. I used to have a cheap POS LG $30 phone. Actually that thing took a lickin and kept on tickin. But I decided I need something a little better (mainly for work). Anyway I got the droid motorolla with the touch screen and keyboard. Well I can't use either if I want to text someone. My fingers don't fit on the keyboard and when I try to text with the touchscreen it looks like a something a 3rd grader in China wrote.

I went back to Verizon and was going to exchange it for a slightly upgraded model of the LG (octane I think). They told me I had 14 days if I wanted to see if I could get used to the droid. Sure whatever.... I walked out saying I'll see you in about 13 days. Then I'm in my truck, go to send a text and somehow this speaker screen appears?!?! So I say mother BBBLLLLLEEEPPP ing thing. Get out of that screen and on the original screen where I was going to send a text read "Mother #### ing thing". So naturally I hit send and away it went. Exactly what I spoke to the little microphone guy that I had no idea how I got there. Upon further investigation you just hit the microphone icon and voice command your texts if you want. WOW!! Little thing ammuse me, that's impressive. So I don't have to worry about the stupid touchscreen keypad that I'll never figure out. Only thing is people might think I'm a little off talking delibrately and having a conversation with my phone. Oh well. I was already pumping gas and got a pretty strange look from the chick next to me

I discovered this recently too. A voice recognition software that's actually accurate. It actually blips out the cursing too (#### you)

NY, I have the HTC Desire droid. At first I thought I was going to have trouble with the screen keyboard, but it isn't that bad. I love the voice to text feature, that thing is pretty accurate also.

I've got the HTC Evo 4g, used to have a blackberry but the droid platform is better in every respect.

I have had my Motorola Droid for a year and a couple months. It has been a good phone for the most part but has given me some issues. Most of the issues have been screen related.

Guess you have the original droid too? Mine is pretty quirky too and I can't wait until November when I'm eligible for an upgrade.

I believe I am eligible for an upgrade now.... Will wait it out though and will look at the new droids and by then the newer iphone will be out. No real hurry for a new phone.

I really enjoy a couple of the aps, my tracks is fantastic... I use it all the time in the woods.

Do you ever get used to the touchscreen texting? Very rarely do I have two hands available to type (yeah yeah insert joke:lol:) I'm mostly holding my phone in one hand working on something. I just can't see my fingers ever navigating that screen with one hand. I already got used to the keyboard with two hands. Not sure about the touch though.

I am on the first Droid right now. I have had it for over a year and still can't use the key board for crap but the touch screen gets easier with time. Plus the app I'm using right now tapatalk is awesome. $3 I think and it makes forums like this very easy to navigate and post on the go. I'm ready to upgrade to a newer Droid though. Thought about the iPhone now that it is on Verizon but they are going to take away unlimited data plan this summer. I use the Droid to check Topo maps when I'm board, spend a tone of time on this forum, and great for checking hunting/ fishing conditions. I would say its a nice tool for an outdoorsman/ woman on the go. Once again, highly recommend tapatalk.

When I am one hand typing, all I do is get enough letters up until the word I want is predicted on the screen and then tap it.

If you notice while you are typing just above the keypad is a list of predicted words, once the word you want is up just tap it. Saves much typing.

Also you may have the "swype" feature. Its the only thing that allows me to text with one hand. Just drag your finger from letter to letter without lifting it off the screen and it will insert the word you are trying to type. It's a godsend, trust me.

I had the Droid Incredable and took it back for a phone that just text and makes phone calls with a camera. It's an LG Octane.

Uhhhhhhhh not happening lol. I checked it out and do have that feature, but wtf? You can seriously form a logical sentence doing that? That's worse than the touchscreen. You can't see where the heck your fingers are going.

Really? That's crazy. I don't even look at my screen anymore while doing it, as long as it's close it will either give you the word or give you a choice of words it could be and you just tap on the one you meant it to be. Oh well, just turn it sideways and use the bigger keypad (not recommended for driving...lol)

What have you guys heard about the Motorola Atrix? I'm looking into possibly upgrading my phone, but it still might be a while seeing as I'm pretty short on money thanks to school. It might have to wait until I'm out of school and have a job again.
