They just flashed a statistic on the golf channel. In 1986 Davis Love lead the PGA in driving distance. His average was 285.7 yards. Now here we are in 2012 and Davis Love is averaging 285.3 yards per drive. He's tied for 143rd in driving distance. Now that's amazing. New balls, young guns with club head speed. Davis' drives 26 years later are .4 yards shorter and he lost 143 spots. LOL
Being this is my profession there are a few factors, these guys are good, dang good. Over the years we have had so many advances in technology along with physical fitness. The guys these days are true athletes hitting the gym everyday working on golf specific muscles and drills. Along with that the clubs have advanced a ton but the balls, they are pushing the limits allowing much more distance.
