Although I don't live in Baton Rouge (I live 4 hours north), it's not near as bad as Dubbya described. It does have it's bad areas, and during that time it was not a pleasant place to be, but Baton Rouge is coming around. Traffic still sucks though.

So, how big is that house? Lot size? What would a house like that list for down there?

If that is white trash, you would hate living around here :)

The house is probably in the 2800 sq ft range with a 0.75 acre lot. I believe the asking price for this house when it was listed was $325k. We looked at the pics when it was listed and I don't remember it having many updates, but it still had some gorgeous original wood work throughout the house. All the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 1920s, so the pricing usually depends on how many updates are in the house.

The house isn't white trash, just the people.

Wow, I could only imagine the rant you'd go on if you lived next to my house with the high grass, tall weeds, usually shirtless hillbilly wandering around drinking good beer & a pick up in the deteriorating driveway.

Is it me or does the over hanging roof on the left look odd?

That is not a over hanging roof, there is a room under that roof, just hard to see with the tree in the way.

And like I said, without the cars and people in the yard, it really doesn't look that bad. I wouldn't complain if it looked like it did this morning all the time.

So, that's not even close to being 'unkempt' by any stretch of the imagination for normal people. And I doubt code enforcement could find much in the way of violations. You and your neighbors need to relax your sphincters a bit.

If they were asking 300k+ for the place, I'm guess someone hit the disability lotto. They may be there awhile.

Either that, or they hit the Haynesville Shale lotto

A few years ago many rural property owners were becoming millionaires or making very good money just by owning property and selling their mineral rights for the natural gas drilling, the reality show "Redneck Millionaires" was filmed here. I don't know. I haven't seen the cars or the rednecks partying in the yard since I started this thread  I'll try to take some pics if I see them out and about this weekend.

Maybe they were just throwing a few parties and celebrating something.

Looks like the problem is yours, not theirs.

Not what I thought I would see but it's only been a little while since they moved in I take it. No tire tracks on the lawn no beer cans either. You're right a couple of shirtless guys would make the picture.

I have no doubt about that, I spent most of my time around the scenic highway, it was "scenic" alright. And there were definitely some nice places that I never got to visit, I'm sure.
