Sorry to hear about the unfortunate situation of your lazy/trashy neighbors... Hope that some of those calls you make will pay off and either get someone to shove a foot up their butts about the condition of the property or get them to move away...

As far as the pitbull I think pitbulls are awesome/intelligent animals... The owner of the animal plays a big part in whether its a vicious out of control animal or a well mannered friendly towards all people kind of animal

Do you know how many pitbull calls we get on a weekly basis in our county? Tons. I've had them charge me several times on duty and one actually bit holes through the metal catch pole I used to subdue him. On average they are a very aggressive, dangerous dog.

Damn Hooker, maybe you could look to the demographics of the animals owners and stop blaming the animal. You do realize that the breed was once the known as the Nanny Dog right? I have saved dozens and placed several in homes through dog rescues and not one has ever attacked anyone. Maybe you could man up and walk down and have a talk with the new outsiders instead of stereotyping them to death, sometimes a little talk will go a long way.

I hear this arguement all the time. You rarely see pits living at homes of people who are responsible enough to take care of themselves, let alone an animal that is known to be mean. Painting with a really broad brush here, but most pit owners that I know of, have the dogs to intimidate.

Is it the dog or the owner? I have a half pit that was nearly beat to death that was aggressive, she now is a sweetheart. The problem is that low life dirt bags beat the dogs and create the monster.

So the question is, are the fat shirtless bastards breaking any ordinances or laws? If so, what are you and the neighbors doing to encourage them to knock it off? My neighborhood has gone to hell but most of the stuff we are getting tired of is within the law, that is why my wife lets the dogs out at 5AM every morning to wake the bastards up that annoy us till all hours:)

Its both. But, Pitbulls are wired different and should never be trusted. They can and will snap in an instant and its good bye to any little kid they get their jaws on.

There's a billion breeds of dogs, pick one that has a lot less chance to snap.

Yeah, you are probably right. Hopefully Hooker will walk down in a wifebeater with a microbrew and strike up a conversation on the neighborhood etiquette.

True BUT pit bulls / white trash kinda seem to go hand in hand.

Isn't that racial profiling, and against the law?
Maybe we should say that they are "economically challenged", or maybe " societally inept", I think a kinder more gentle approach might just bring then around, their situation can likely be traced back to "Bush's" failure to respond quickly enough to the devastation after Katrina. :)

Let's not turn this into a pit bull debate.

But for those who say "it's the owner, not the dog", just from a exterior judgement, I'm going to assume these are crappy owners and only own the pit bill because they view them as "badass" dogs and want to look tough.

I think they are just wired differently. We should ban them from towns through legislation until they stop wearing their wifebeaters while drinking beer next to the 20 vehicles in the yard that don't run.

Some people like to have "stuff" its a sign of prosperity to them, hell 20 cars they must be doing something right! I only have 3 and ones a company truck not even mine.

I mean think about it, if you don't leave your old refrigerator in the yard by the side walk how is any one driving by gonna know you got a new one just last year, its really just common sense. I'll bet some day those folks will have a trailer home of their very own.

The city may or may not do anything, but I would think that if several neighbors complain along with documented pictures, they will have no choice. What do you have to les by trying?

I did not know the Pit Bull was once called the Nanny Dog, but I believe it. IMO, that is part of their problem. They can be too loyal to their owners and too quick to unnecessarily attack what they perceive as a threat. Are they all bad? Nope, but as has been mentioned, the odds are higher with them as opposed to most all other breeds. I agree they are wired different and can do so much more damage as well due to jaw strength and I wouldn't want one around my children.

    JF nailed it above.

They were the nanny breed because they are overly loyal and protective, not because they are normally big sweet teddy bears. You can train a pitbull to be that way, but they are inherently an aggressive (atleast towards strangers) breed.

I keep logging in hoping for pics of these people to be posted, lol

I'm at work, so you will have to wait till at least tonight for pics, although I'm not sure how I will get them since they always seem to be outside, and I don't want them to release their harmless family dog after me for taking pictures.

Hop in your car and roll up and take a few pictures. Or just walk down with a 6 pack and discuss the rules of the hood.
