Can you blame him? He doesn't live in the middle of rural Ohio, he lives in a well kept neighborhood. I'd be pissed too. And as for the dog....no way I would want a pitbull anywhere near my house. The dog lovers that believe its only how the dogs are raised have their heads in the sand. Our local news has articles on their website nearly weekly about pitbull attacks. They're a trash dog.
Sounds like they will probably default on their rent here in a couple months. Then it will take that landlord another 6 months to get them kicked out. You should be good to go by next year.
City code can wreak havoc on renters if they neighbors push them to do so. I'd complain about the lawn, yard parking, noise complaints, etc. I can see both sides of it as in college I dealt with a similar situation at one house we lived in.... Except the house average value was <$100k there so they were the ones unrealistic about the situation IMO.
I never said anything about being pissed, i would probably be pissed too if i could even see my neighbor At the same time, if anybody every walked over to my house and told me to "change" it, especially somebody wearing shoes...id laugh. But they have the right to live there just as much as everyone else....see what im getting at? Now if the dog ever gets out of line...just shoot it. The same right does not extend to dogs that are known to be vicious around children.
Sure they have the right to live there, but they also have an obligation to keep the place clean and in order. Because of where they chose to live.....see what I'm getting at? Remember, you live in the country where the same rules don't apply to you.
This doesn't seem to be a case of elderly retired people living on fixed incomes...those we can cut some slack to. This is a case lazy deadbeats that wont get off their asses to work much less pick up their yards and properties. I am all for living and let living till you start impacting the quality of life of those around you. So not only are they most likely leaching off the public dole and sucking us all dry. They are lazy and dirty as well..ruining the lives of there neighbors with the eye sore they are creating. Tell me one good reason able body people that don't freaking work can't keep a respectable home? Lazy, white trash is the right term.
I would be raising a stink with the city, laws or no laws against it. Around here they take these things pretty serious. This can and will reduce your property value.
aye, they have the right to live there, but they also have to obey city ordinances. I will never live in a HOA neighborhood, but at the moment, I kinda wish I had a HOA to take care of this.
But are these people breaking any rules? Hooker said he is NOT part of a Homeowners association...the only thing that would matter is city ordinance, and we are talking about the deep south here... I just wanna see pictures so we can fully judge!
Unless they're renting not much you can do. Can you do a parcel search to find out the sale history of the place? Had a similar situation a few years back at my last place. Drug dealers moved in, sat in their car in the garage with the door about a foot up and blared their music, the bass would rattle my walls. He never worked and traffic was in and out constantly. We started writing down license plate numbers and in just under 2 weeks we had 78 different license plate numbers. Gave a copy to the landlord and another to an officer on one of several calls they had to the place for domestic. It took a few months, but they were finally evicted. Best bet is to find out if they rent, if so you stand a chance with a concerted effort with your neighbors. I don't blame you one bit, I would do it again in a heartbeat. If you want to live like a slob, move to a slum neighborhood.
Somebody has to work to pay for the place. I know the house had a "For Sale" sign for awhile, but whether or not they actually bought the house, or just agreed to rent, I do not know. Just aggravated. I'm surrounded by old people that pretty much just work in their yard 24/7, and I look down the street to see cars piled up everywhere with a bunch of fat shirtless dudes smoking and drinking with a pit bull (at least they keep it on a leash for now). I'm all about respecting one's personal freedoms, but have some respect for your neighbors, your property, and most of all, yourself.
