So AP is banned for the year. Will he play again? If so, when?

Why do you hate it? It happens everywhere. If I was arrested for beating my kids, I'm positive I would lose my job for missing work. He works for the NFL.

But you would lose your job because you missed work, not for what you did. If you didn't miss any work would you still lose your job? I don't know that AP missed any "work" because of what he did. The NFL is punishing players for what they do off the field, for some reason it bothers me. Don't get me wrong, what he did was sickening, I just don't like the way the NFL does things.

    Have to protect the brand.

I'm sure if the CEO of Apple or some other mega company was in the spotlight for something like this they would be out immediately.

How could you possibly defend what he did to his child? Some say he was disciplined like that so it is ok if he disciplined like that. If he was molested as a child should it be ok if he molested his children? Playing in the NFL is a privilege not a right, and evidently Nike does not agree with his actions as they have dropped him with cause. There is no way to defend his actions.

I am sure he missed a practice or 2. He had to go to Texas for court during the beginning of the season. His actions caused his absence. I know your not justifying or defending him but the NFL has to step in imo.

Shouldn't the Vikings be the ones to decide how to discipline their employee? The NFL doesn't write his checks, the Vikings do or who ever owns the Vikings I guess I should say. I guess I don't like the idea of one man(Goodell) having supreme power over all the teams.

I see your point, but I'll use my job as an example. I work for an independent bottling company. We distribute pepsi in our area. If I were to do something that corporate pepsi doesn't agree with then we could lose our ties with them and we could lose a lot of business.

Granted, that more than likely wouldn't happen but they could have a strong say in an issue because I could be hurting their brand. They don't write my checks either.

I don't see him playing the rest of the year. The Ban will hold up. He plead out which in the eyes of the NFL is as good as guilty. Plus didn't he fail a drug test while he was out? Pretty sure that is couple of games suspension.

The vikings picked up Ben Tate because they see the writing on the wall AP will be out the rest of the year. If they can't trade him to buffalo or Seattle then he will be back in purple next year and there will be a press conference where he reads some lame statement about how he can see that his actions were wrong that is how was raised but that he can see how now that isn't blah blah blah. AP will be back in Purple at least for one more year while we try and find a replacement in the draft.
