This is my first season back to hunting period since '98. Lost interest when I went with a bunch of guys that were to much into partying for my taste. I got a glimpse of how many guys go out in the woods half shined up from the night before. Shooting archery with my 6 year old got me interested in hunting again. This weekend will be my first time hunting in 13+ years. Now that I'm so geared upo about bow hunting I'm thinking about going out with a gun too. I traded a pistol that & didn't use & a couple hundred for a Ruger M77 mark II stainless in 300 win mag.

yeah i've seen quite a few guys that were more into the party element of deer hunting. during deer season where i live you actually have to be more careful driving at night because of all the drunks rather than the deer lol. we have neighbors who just started renting the 150 acres next door and their big party people apparently (not real friendly either). i shudder to think of what will happen there when gun season rolls around

Haven't picked up a rifle since 12/28/08 when I killed this elk. I do like to use the ML at times though. I may use the ML a little bit in Ontario next month, and do some walking.....if I can't get a good buck on trail cam to hunt with the bow.

Big body, not a huge rack. Shot that one in Saskatchewan on an Indian Reservation.

Oh, we do have them here in WI. Unfortunately, until we do something about the wolves, the population will never grow to a number large enough to sustain a huntable population. Hell, they just trapped some elk and moved them to a new area. They said it would take 7 years for the wolves to figure out how to kill them. Sounds like the wolves killed 2 within a very short period of time after the release. Damn it....now you got me going....I could write a book about how messed up the Elk reintroduction program is right now because of the wolves.

I love bowhunting, but there's nothing like breaking the silence with a gunshot.

A little rifle hunting. Most of our counties are archery only for deer. I'd rather bow hunt anyway.

    I use a Marlin .243 Camo, or a black Savage .270. Looking into getting an AR15 and a .30-06

Does anyone here have any experience with the Remington R-24? I've been drooling over that gun for about a year now

I love gun hunting also. I use a Thompson Encore chambered in 20 gauge. it is fully rifled with a Nikon Trophy Hunter scope. I shoot the Hornady sabots and they are very accurate and damaging. They just approved rifle hunting this year for the county I hunt, so I might have to get a .243 or .270 though. :) Not sure if I want the barrel for the Encore, or a new/used rifle. I am a big Browning fan, so I have been eyeing up the A-Bolt.
