Looks like I am finally going to have to break down and get a new snow blower, the old Toro is shot. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to get a 24 or 28 inch model with electric start but not sure on witch one yet.

I have a snapper, forget the model but it's big and self propelled ...electric start, all the bells and whistles. Works great, no issues at all so far.

I just used my new Ariens 28 inch, 12.5 hp for the first time tonight. Fine machine. I have a longer gravel driveway and the Ariens had the cast iron gear box and a 5 year warranty on it and 3 on everything else. It was the best warranty I came across.

So would I. I use a shovel most of the time anyway, but I am not always home when it snows and my wife wants the snow blower more than me.

Sounds like a great excuse to purchase the family's first flamethrower :)

My first John Deere was a 7 hp 27 " that I gave to the kids after 15 years of heavy duty use. It still looked and ran like the day I got it. I bought an 8 hp 28" JD to replace it. At my age it will outlast me. I'm thinking a good 30 years.

Polaris Brutus HD-Pro, can get a blower attachment for it

Ariens is a solid brand. If I were going to buy today that'd be it, but my old craftsman is still kicking.

Here's a photo of my 1st suggestion :tu:

Spoken like someone without back problems or a 100' foot driveway, lol.

I gave in and bought this Craftsman last year and it works great. Electric start, easy on gas, etc.

No comments on my messy garage, that was last winter.

Well, you obviously have not seen my you tube channel. I still get by and I still try. Fortunately for me I don't have to contend with the snow issues. If I did, I would definitely evaluate the shovel.

Ariens. Sometimes a mid size one is better than a over sized one.

That looks just like mine, 'cept mine is 11 years old and kind of dirty. Runs great-always starts right up. I would say I'd happily buy another one, but I don't think I'll ever need to do that.

    Is yours made in Canada?

Get another toro, imo they have the best features, quick-stick (chute deflector operation) and the anti-clog auger system. Both ariens and toro have the same briggs sno-series engines.
