Thanks:) the coastal tiapan and the eastern brown are the ones to watch as they are very aggressive if cornered or threatened and will strike you more than once. I read somewhere that the coastal taipan has 100% mortality rate if left untreated.

If I see a snake I tend to head the other way, usually at a great rate of knots (Mark sees snakes, queue little girl squeal, and a man running through the bush with his arms flailing in the air) :)

Isn't the inland taipan the "deadliest" snake on the planet but encounters are very rare?

Where I live in central Indiana there are no venemous snakes. If you go a little ways south there are copperheads, some places they can get pretty thick. I hunt 2 pieces of property in southern indiana and there are copperheads on both but I've never seen one.

You have more then just copperheads around there! I have personally killed a timber rattler in your hunting domain! Although I have only seen two in my life time!

Yeah it is, you're spot on. The next deadliest land snake on the planet is the Eastern Brown which is more common. I remember as a kid having one stand up at me cobra style when I was walkin through our paddock chasing rabbits. I ran quicker than Usain Bolt and cleared a barbed wire fence. The funny thing was the snake did the same thing but in the other direction thank god.

I think we have 6 out of the top 10 deadliest land snakes here in Oz. My rule is, if ya see one, back out slowly, head back to camp so you can change ya britches :)

It's in the back of my mind but as I do most of my hunting in the cooler months it's not so bad. When things start warming up in October through to April I tend to keep an eye out on where I put my feet. I'm going to invest in a pair of snake proof gaiters from Moroka30. They're pretty tough as this video shows.

It's pretty tame around here. We have copperhead, and a there have been a few rattlesnakes spotted in the area. I don't think about them when hunting though. I've only seen a couple snakes on my place, a few garter snakes and black snakes.
