I own a business. My cell phone rings and beeps all damn day.employees, customers, sub contractors etc non stop. I go hunting to get away from that. I keep phone with me only in case I need it. But I turn sound and vibrate off. Because I feel the vibrations it will get in my head and just ruin my hunt and force me to look and deal with more work problems. After all these years my employees know not to bother even call me if the buildings on fire. I won't answer.
I'm on mine quite often while sitting on stand...texting, facebooking, read the news and send emails. I don't play games. I've had a few deer sneak up on me this year. One of these days it'll cost me a big one I'm sure.
Yeah I play on mine quite a bit. Way more than I should. I will say the colder it is the less I am on it. I don't wear a glove on my right hand and really can't with a touch screen unless you get those special gloves so when cold I am hardly on it. Have had a deer or two sneak up on me while using it but hasn't cost me anything I don't think. I am usually just surfing the internet or playing a bowling game I have.
I only use it for communication and to check the time/weather. I also take pictures from the stand of my setup, shooting lanes, and of deer and upload them on Twitter for my followers to see.
Look into an app that saves your battery/stops your phone from constantly trying to update or send/receive info. Most apps allow emails to update and all texts & calls go thru. Or get a portable battery booster. I always have mine with me. Oh, and my phone is in my chest pocket on vibrate. Hardly any deer move thru my buddies little piece of hunting property so I can't afford to miss them if they do.
I'm on mine when I get bored. Keeps me in the stand longer, but you just have to not zone out into your phone and pay attention.
Stopped using it in the stand and started killin deer. Only time I use it now is for "DEER DOWN" text.
