great for safety, communications and entertainment. If it keeps me in a tree longer it's all good. listened to Lumineers, Johhny eats world, Killers, phoenix, monsters and men, black keys, rod hot chili peppers, imagine dragon with skullcandy. That's a 6 hour sit. Badger/packer games.

I keep mine on vibrate and am on it a lot.I can sit from daylight to dark now,no problem.I could never do that a few years ago. Also,it is good for emergencies and to text your hunting buddy to come and help drag a deer out.

I keep mine on vibrate as well, but I take a lot of pics (lol) while in the stand, and look at the forum and also on my Hunting app as well, more so with the app when walking in on Public Lands so that way I don't go out of the boundaries, also text my Wife a pic off of my Hunting app of my location, also about every 3 hrs or so to let her know I'm still alive and well.

I use the Mossy Oak Hunting Weather app... In Maryland you can get maps off of the DNR web-site for every WMA or CWMA and I use the GPS off the app to locate and make sure I'm in the realms of the map boundaries.... It has been really useful as well IMHO.... I recommend it, a lot of the CWMA have houses backing up to it, and when in the woods I wouldn't know that unless I saw it on the app....the last thing I want to do is set up near someone's house or even a safety zone!!!!

The PA Game Commision has a nice app for the state which shows topo maps and sat images of the state and includes boundaries and parking areas for the state game lands. It costs $9.99 though.

I have the I Phone 4 as well and I bring a portable phone charger in my gear bag just in case I have to track and the battery goes low.

Play in mine here and there. Check weather, here, text buddies, and take pics. I kinda know when deer start moving were I hunt so when it gets close to that time I don't mess around on it much. So far havemt ben bisted or missed anything but I don't do anything on it that's gonna get me real involved that I can't still look up and check surroundings pretty often.

I use my phone quite a bit while on stand...family, business, work ect ect...I am lucky to be able to hunt a lot of days throughout the fall and part of the reason is I can stay on top of things via my iPhone. I often wish was I wasn't connected to it so much but it is what it is. If I didn't have it I wouldn't be able to be away hunting as much... So it a trade off, it may have cost me a deer that I don't know about or it may not have. But I know it ha allowed me to hunt a hell I lot more.
