I was out this morning...and it was a great morning. Saw 4 bucks and two does, no shooters unfortunately. I did have two small bucks within 20yds though, and saw one of the bucks was a beautiful basket 8 about 50yds away. I had an interesting thing happen, figured I'd bounce it off you guys. I see this mature doe coming and she's walking right down the middle of the creek - in the water. Her mouth is open, panting. I figure that a buck has been dogging her, so I keep an eye out for him. Anyhow, no buck shows....but the doe continues to walk in the water for well over 100yds, maybe 130-140 - right down the middle of the creek. (This creek is about 15-20' wide, and 6" deep on avg). I've never seen one do that before, it seemed bizarre. Then I got to thinking, I wonder if she was doing that to possibly throw the buck off her scent trail? What do you guys think? Was she smart, or just walking down the creek?
