Hey everyone. So Im shooting a new Faktor 30. 29" draw, 60#, IBO 332. I currently have been shooting the new Bloodsport Impact 350 arrows out of it. They are super small diameter, and I'm sure are packing some serious kinetic energy; However, should I be shooting a standard to maintain speed/accuracy? Was looking at Maxima Reds' and few others but Im just not really sure. Thoughts?
Not sure what GPI they are, but I shoot a similar setup using fmj's . Not sure of the exact weight but my arrows are in the 425-450 grains range. Never had any problems with accuracy.
Smaller is better. I'm shooting Easton Axis 340 out of a 70 lb Bowtech Admiral and my arrows have plenty of zip to them. My bow only IBO's at 320. You also get more penetration out of small diameter arrows.
I have the VAP arrows - which are the small diameter. The archery shop told me they allow me, at a low draw weight, to shoot at a faster speed. I did notice that they shot into my bag further than the regular size. I have yet to shoot a deer with them, though.
Kristin... I have a woman friend that has a bow with a 40# draw and shoots VAP arrows. She put one LENGTHWISE through a deer last year! You shouldn't have any doubt about 'getting-the-job-done' with your setup.
The 'standard' is... don't shoot any arrow under 5-gpi/draw weight. With that said, my arrows are 8.4-gpi/draw weight. Small diameter is the way to go IMHO though (others may disagree - it's all personal preference and their comfort level).
